What SportBattles is
SportBattles is our own platform for managing racket-sport tournaments — squash first, expanding to tennis, padel, badminton and table tennis. It serves four different roles at once: organizers, players, referees and spectators.
A tournament's full lifecycle runs through the platform: creation and sign-ups, automatic draws, court-and-time scheduling, live refereeing from a tablet at the court, public live results pages.
Technical highlights
- 11 draw algorithms — eliminations, round robin, Swiss with playoffs, Monrad, qualifications — including compound schemes.
- Live results without expensive infrastructure — an architecture designed for 100 concurrent court scoreboards on minimal server resources.
- Online payments via Stripe, a bilingual interface (Bulgarian and English), Google/Facebook sign-in.
- 660 automated tests plus end-to-end scenarios that replay entire tournaments from creation to final every night — so new features don't break old ones.
- Automated data import: over 3,400 sports venues from European catalogs, enriched with automatically extracted information from 2,500+ websites.
